Francesco Pavone – University of Florence, LENS (European Laboratory of Nonlinear Spectroscopy) – talks about the photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy for skin lesions answering some basic questions: are lasers better than LEDs? What wavelength range is more effective? Pavone highlights a tradeoff: moving from the blue light to red light, light tissue penetration is maximized but the absorption capability of cytochrome C oxidase, main component of PBM, is reduced.
